The School of Business is one of the divisions that was created through the recent amalgamation of the Productivity Facilitation Division and Management Development Division. Its focus is on improving productivity and management practices in the country in order to develop businesses for a better future.

 

This division offers a wide range of services and courses such as Workshops, Foundation Courses, Diplomas and Certificate programs along with many other seminars. The school offers its services to a cross section of society ranging from school leavers to top professional by a way of management development programs. These education and training opportunities are available to both organizations and interested individuals in public and private sectors.

School of Computing

NIBM is one of the leading computer- training institute in Sri Lanka with a long history, which provides a well recognised IT qualification and trainings in Sri Lanka. The target of the division is to create skillful participants for the IT field with the maximum extent of knowledge. Programs of the division are changing according to the dynamic technological environmental context. These changes add more values to the IT courses of NIBM, which provide more competencies towards the students.

 

The division conducts Computer Training Programmes, which consist of two Diploma programmes, a Degree programme and several Certificate level programmes. The prime Computer Programmes of the NIBM consist of a one-year Diploma in Computer System Design and a two-year programme leading to a Higher Diploma in Computer Based Information Systems. A B.Sc. degree program was commenced in 1996 in collaboration with University College Dublin (UCD), National University of Ireland.

 

These programs have gained wide acceptance by the general public as a result of being well structured to cater the needs of participants. Due to its long experience in the field, the NIBM is recognized as the pioneer computer training institute in the country.

School of Language

English Language modules are integral components in many courses, and increasingly students take advantage of the opportunity to follow these modules. Language unit offers courses for professionals as well as the job seekers. As most of the students have completed their secondary education in their mother tongue, we feel that this will give them an opportunity to get over the language barrier. Some modules focus on the acquisition of a variety of skills such as speaking, writing, reading as well as listening. Thus, the language unit functioning at each regional centre caters to enhance English knowledge which is part and parcel in business. The main objective of the unit is to prepare the young generation to the competitive business world and empower them with competency in communicating in English and other languages.The programmes range from certificate up to diploma level. Language courses for the professionals help them to develop their competency in communicating in English and other foreign languages.

School of Engineering

Engineering division is a new unit added to the NIBM which holds 48 years of pride history. The Engineering division offers courses in Quantity Surveying, CAD/ CAM, AI & Robotics and Mechatronics in collaboration with the internationally acclaimed universities.

With the rapid development of the country, there is a need for qualified Engineers and the few State Universities are unable to cater to this need. As a reputed Educational Institute, NIBM has an important role to play in providing competent products in different Engineering fields.
