National Institute of Business Management (NIBM) launched its prospectus for the year 2009 at a grand ceremony held on 17 February 2009 at BMICH Banquet Hall. This is the first annul event being organized by the NIBM to develop partnership with its clientele. Hon. Piyasena Gamage, Minister Vocational and Technical Training graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Hon. Bandula Gunewardena, Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operative and Consumer Affairs too attended the event. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor of Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

While making the welcome address, Prof. Lakshman Jayatilleke, Chairman of the NIBM highlighted the development which took place in the recent past and the specific roles being played by the NIBM in developing competencies of individuals and organizations in Sri Lanka. After welcoming the guests, Dr. E A Weerasignhe, Director General of the NIBM handed over the first copy of the prospectus to the Chief Guest and to the other distinguished guests.

In his keynote address, Mr. Cabraal highlighted the impacts of global crisis on our economy and current measures being taken to cushion the situation. He further mentioned that our economy is strong enough to face the challenges being posed by the global financial crisis. Hon. Piyasena Gamage, Minister Vocational and Technical Training and Hon. Bandula Gunawardena Minister of Trade, Marketing Development, Co-operative and Consumer Affairs too addressed the gathering.
